about

The spark that fueled the birth of Sacred Side Project came from a musical connection between Bright Hawk and Jason Cohen. Playing together for sacred ceremonies on the Hang drum and accordion, during all night rites, and often at dawn. Each time, whether in the red woods, in the Yucatan, in Costa Rica, in Oahu, in Maui, and at other ceremonies, their improvisations would flow through them and inspire the dance and total bliss in all who listened. Echoes from the Deep Waters was recorded in a beautiful glass house in the woods, in a forest in Georgia. They tapped Chris Baum from Jason's other musical project, "Incus", to come down and play on the project and help with recording. Then in the 11th hour, the masterful and spontaneous Eric Freeman accepted the invitation to join in on the musical journey. Clearly this was an essential moment in the forming of this music and this offering, Echoes from the Deep Waters. May it serve you well.
